Buy a Dairy Cow for Children's Home in Kenya

Project Leader:

Sister Everline Atieno

Can you help us buy a dairy cow? Depending on where you live, you don’t get asked that every day. Three million people might not be facing hunger where you live. Kenya is on the brink of famine. HIV is also widespread, including among children. Although awareness of HIV and AIDS is relatively high in Kenya, vulnerable groups like children living with HIV face high levels of stigma and discrimination. In Nairobi, Talitha Kum Children's Home provides community care to orphaned HIV positive children who cannot find safe placement in the larger community. “Talita Kum” comes from the Gospel of Mark 5:41 where Jesus speaks to an apparently lifeless young girl. After speaking the Aramaic words “Talitha Kum,” Jesus takes her by the hand and as they walk together. The words mean, "Young girl, I say to you, arise." Sister Everline and her staff are real-life heroes for these abandoned children. Sister E. hopes to make Talitha Kum self-sustaining to both feed the children in her care, and generate income to send them to school. With the help of Missio community members like you, these young children can rise also.”
The question might seem odd at first, but the answer is pretty easy: “Can you help us buy a dairy cow?” – “Yes. Indeed we can.”

Greetings to all well wishers and everyone of good will who supported this project. I wish to inform you that your donations did a great work in making the dream come true. At long last, with your donations, we managed to put up a nice structure for the cows, buy cow feeds and bought cows also. Receive our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support in this project. May God bless you all.
