Counsel the Traumatized in Malawi

Project Leader:

Reverend Eugene Ngoma

Fr. Eugene Ngoma is the pastor of St. Pius Church in Chiputula, Malawi, where forms of child labor, sexual exploitation, and violence are unfortunately common. 9% of children under the age of 14 years old have suffered one or more of these traumatizing experiences. Fr. Eugene is asking the MISSIO community to help him build a Counseling and Development Centre for the Women and Youth at St. Pius. Give $25 to help build a safe place for children to heal and recover.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all those who have contributed so far. We have been deeply touched to notice that over the last few weeks many people have come up to support our project and on our part this can be nothing more than God’s divine intervention. You may wish to know also that over the last 18 months our project has moved from mare pre-occupation with building the multi-purpose hall and offices, to providing direct sustenance to the children in the form of porridge in the morning at least three times a week. For most of them, as they come from poor families, this could be the only meal they will have during the day. Our morning feeding program has made significant impact as those involved have tremendously improved their grades. If you also wish to donate to our morning feeding program, 25usd can buy a 50kg bag of maize which can be processed into porridge flour and feed 200 children for one week.
