Project Leader:
Brother Divine Word Appeals
On the urging of Archbishop Douglas Young SVD, a Divine Word parish in Mount Hagen, Papua New Guinea, acquired 5 acres of land to grow potatoes. Parish families pledge to plant, cultivate and harvest the potatoes, and then to transport them to the market. One crop yielded $1,275 at market. Projects such as these in developing countries allow Divine Word parishes to be more self-reliant. This is just one example of the many farming initiatives Divine Word Missionaries have established around the world. Please help us raise $10,000 to promote sustainable farming in our mission areas. Divine Word Missionaries serve in 81 countries. They build chapels, celebrate the sacraments, and spread the Word of God in remote mission areas. With more than 6,000 members, the missionaries go to the far corners of the world building hospitals, educating the poor and providing water, food, and shelter. These priests and Brothers help people neglected by society to build a better future. They also foster vibrant Catholic communities around the world. Please be generous with your prayers and donations to encourage the vital work of these missionaries.
