The Daughters of St Thérèse of the Child Jesus run a farm with various enterprises, including dairy, coffee, maize, banana, bee and sugar cane. Income from the farm helps the Sisters offer health care to the community, particularly outreach for many sick with malaria. The greatest need right now, in light of COVID-19, is to provide workers’ salaries for the next several months in order to continue the activities of the farm, and even more importantly to support local families that depend so much on the farm in terms of daily income. Also a great need is to make sure their health services are supported. Patients are increasing in numbers at our health unit, and we need simple means of transport like a motorcycle to pick up medication from the main unit. Funds will be used to build a coffee store to safeguard harvest because of lack of markets due to COVID-19, put a fence on the coffee plantation for security, and to purchase drugs in the health clinic, and a tent to accommodate more patients.
