Mission Sisters Create Jobs in Rural Nigeria

Project Leader:

Sister Catherine Adelegan

Louis Bautain Farm in Nigeria needs support. Located in a rural area of Issele Uku Diocese of Delta State. The Sisters of St Louis Nigeria Province have worked and lived here among the people since 1995 sharing life with them. At a point, the Sisters’ presence was the only visible sign of life as they provided vocational training for women and also assistance at a Primary Health Care Clinic. At the moment, the farm has some palms, piggery, poultry and fishpond. The greatest need right now is for the Ewulu community to get enough food and alleviate hunger. COVID 19 has forced a lock down. Nearby schools are closed, and the children depended on feeding programs. We, so much, desire to reach these families. The hands that work the farm are close to nonexistent due to this outbreak as many are home scared or too sick. The lands continue to grow thicker and unkempt. Cultivating wild land will be difficult. Also, our farm has ongoing construction and the fear is prices for cement, wood and labor will increase. A donation of $25 will help purchase protective equipment for Sisters who visit the people.
