Project Leader:
Sister Mackline Adema
The Sisters of Mary of Kakamega operate Chebukaka Farm. The Sisters were founded in 1932 to spread the Good News and foster education of African women so as to uplift their standard of living in a world. From five Sisters in that first year, there are now 400 Sisters working in Kenya, as well as Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan, and, more recently, in the United States. The greatest need now due to COVID-19 is support to run the farm – including fuel for the tractor, salaries for the workers, and agriculture inputs due to scarcity of their supply and the high demand for them (commercial feeds, fertilizers and seeds for planting). Funds will be used to purchase scarce farm inputs, pay workers and increase hiring workers, providing support for local families in that way, and provide food for families most affected by the pandemic.
