Project Leader:
Sister Sr. Lucy Afful
The farm was established in 2008 at the campus of St. Louis Secondary School in Kumasi where the Sisters have a convent. The aim is to train farm women and young people in agrobusiness and to offer them the opportunity to learn employable skills as way of alleviating poverty. Thus far we have trained about 1000 people. At the moment we have 35 trainees, 7 trainers and 8 laborers working on the farm. We give trainees 3 months intensive training program in organic farming focused on vegetables, flowers, fruits, herbs, maize and composting for local market. The program emphasizes farm management as well as development of necessary farming and business knowledge. The COVID – 19 outbreak has paralyzed our efforts. We are working hard to bring awareness of the virus prevention. Our campaign also involves supporting our workers, volunteers and rural communities during these challenging times. Your gift of $25 will help purchase gloves and masks.
