Support New Carmelites in Colombia

Project Leader:

Sister Sister Alba Luz Mesa Giraldo

Sister Maria is raising money to help support the postulancy and novitiate of her community of Discalced Carmelites in La Ceja, Columbia. Living the rule of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross, Sister Maria’s community of contemplative nuns live a cloistered life. The cloister minimizes distractions and provides the silence needed for their work of prayer and contemplation. Many hours each day are spent in Mass, singing of the Divine Office, mental prayer, the rosary, spiritual reading, and other religious exercises. The nuns in her community, beginning in their first years of formation, also perform many works of love and prayer for the Church, for souls, and especially for priests. A gift of $20 helps Sister Maria and her community form and support the vocations that the Lord has given them.
