Project Leader:
Sister Sr. Mary Brigitte Nganga
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus explains that, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (Lk 10:2) He might have added that those few workers can get tired without a good night’s rest. The Sisters of Maria Gorretti are a new community of Religious women founded in the diocese of Shinyanga in Tanzania. They are indeed hardworking laborers in the field. The Sisters work with young women being sexually exploited and trafficked. The new community just built a house of formation, a chapel, and a retreat center. They are now raising money to buy beds and mattresses for the 36 sisters sleeping in the dormitory. Until then, these workers are sleeping on the floor…Which brings me back to the Gospel of Luke: “He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field’” (Lk 10:2). The Sisters can accomplish so much more in the community with a good night’s rest! Give this simple gift to those doing such important work.
