Provide Computers to Schools in Kenya

Project Leader:

Reverend Claudiu Istoc

Fr. Claudiu is the parish priest of the Maikona Parish in the Chalbi desert. Fr. Claudiu serves the 10,000 nomadic Christians living and moving in this large arid region. The parish includes twenty-two small villages, some as far away as 150 km. Maikona parish operates seven small primary schools and two high schools. The young nomads have very little access to computers and the internet. When they do, the connection is weak and unreliable. Fr. Claudiu is raising money to purchase ten laptops, a video projector, and generator in order to offer regular computer courses at the main parish center. The parish plans to bring both students and teachers from the many schools in the widely spread and nomadic parish community to share this new resource. A gift of $500 buys one laptop that will connect children in the Chalbi desert with the global community.
