Support Vocations in the Pope's Missions

Project Leader:

Missio Team

Your gift this summer to the Society of St. Peter Apostle, one of the Pope's mission societies, helps young men preparing for the priesthood at St. Augustine’s Major Seminary in western Kenya, in Bangladesh, where Pope Francis ordained 16 new priests at the end of 2017, and throughout the Pope’s missions in Africa and Asia. As priests, they will uplift the poor, celebrate the Sacraments, reach out to children and families, and comfort the sick and dying. Your support and prayers help to shelter and care for these future priests during their studies, as well as to provide educational materials, improve seminaries, and support qualified teaching staff. Your generosity also provides for those preparing to serve as religious Sisters or Brothers. In the first year it was established (1889), the Society of St. Peter Apostle sent help for some 2,700 seminarians in the Missions, including the missions of the United States at that time. Today, some 35,500 major seminarians, mostly in Africa (19,500) and Asia (16,000), receive an annual subsidy of $700 per student. Religious novices (close to 10,000) also receive about $250-$300 for their studies. Your gift of $25 will not only help educate a future priest or religious, but also enable their lifetime of loving service.
