Residence for Abandoned Elderly, Peru

Project Leader:

Sister Sister M. Ancilla Maloney

A mission located 11,500 feet high in the South Andes Mountains has a large population of hungry, sick and abandoned elderly. The majority of the people in the area make a living as farmers and herdsmen and are unable to help care for these vulnerable adults. Family members have had to make a heartbreaking decision to leave behind in search for employment. Consequently, the elderly live-in run-down adobe homes with no electricity or indoor water sources. Please help The Franciscan Sisters construct a residence with a soup kitchen and rooms.

Dear Doris, When the whole world is focused on the corona virus, opening my e mail to see your donation touches me deeply. The virus has just come to our region. Please God all, especially, the elderly will be safe. The middle of May begins to bring very cold weather here. Your donation will help us build the residence that is so needed for so many of our elderly who are suffering from so many challenges-lack of indoor water source or bathroom, insufficient food and shelter and medical access. God bless your generosity!!! Sister Ancilla

Dear William.Thank you so much for your donation and compassion for our frail elderly. So many live in homes that have no indoor plumbing or water source, need to cook either on dangerous gas burners or with wood on dirt floors-and winter is coming soon. Your donation will speed the building of a residence for them. God bless you. Sister Ancilla
