A water well for children of Madagascar

Project Leader:

Sister Lea Christelle Rasoanamina

In Fianarantsoa, Madagascar safe, drinking water still represents a primary goal! In the southern suburbs where our Congregation of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist works, a kindergarten class houses over 300 children, and water is drawn from polluted rivers or stagnations where there is a strong presence of bacteria. The few water wells available, which serve entire communities, are managed by government authorities. People, many of them children, gather in the early hours of the day to fill bins of water at a cost. Access to water resources determines the survival of one's family every day. The Sisters of St. John the Baptist, thanks to your help and with the intercession of the founding father St. Alfonso Maria Fusco, want to build a well of drinking water near the school so that children, very often employed for that purpose, can leave their own water containers, participate in literacy classes for free, and return with them at the end of the day at home. At Fianarantsoa the water would be supplied free of charge. Please consider helping this project. A gift of $25 will help start the work.
