Send a Young Woman to School in Uganda

Project Leader:

Reverend Denis Ocanda

Fr. Denis Ocanda is raising money to send five more young women in the Diocese of Nebbi in Uganda to high school. The diocese helps to fund the education of young women beyond primary school with a few scholarships. $200 pays for a year of school for one young woman – many of whom have no families to support them. Fr. Denis believes that the entire community benefits when young women are empowered through education. His long-term goal is to provide scholarships for 50 more scholarships for young women in the coming years. Communicate directly with Fr. Denis below to let him know you support this scholarship, and the others to come. Give $200 to send a young woman to high school.

Greetings to all of you, Laura, Robert, Dennis, for the generous donations. I am here in Northern Uganda, struggling to educate children. This year 2019, they were 69. We began a local organization called HELP, meaning Help Educate the Less Privileged, and under this umbrella, kind people give whatever they can to support children, mainly girls, in school. Thank you for holding our hands in this struggle. It is sad here to see a girl of 15 marrying, and a boy of 17 becoming a husband, all in desperation, as there is no headway in education and no sustenance at home. These children are themselves from irresponsible parents who long separated and abandoned them with their old helpless grandmothers. The situation we are in here makes you shed tears. Thank you for standing by us. My email address is denisocanda@gmail.com May God bless you all. I take advantage of this same opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
