For weeks and sometimes months at a time, children and families in Christ the King Parish in Mbengwi, Cameroon, face the challenge of securing clean drinking water. The parish priest, Father Otia, is trying to do something about that. Right now, there is an immediate need for a water well. Appropriate well construction depends on local geologic and groundwater conditions. Proper well location and construction are key to the safety of the well water. Rainwater can pick up harmful bacteria and chemicals on the land’s surface and it is important to safeguard with additional measures in order to prevent waterborne diseases. The current global pandemic poses even more difficult challenges. Father Otia needs support in order to construct a standard well that will collect and distribute water to the people. Praise the Lord. We pray and hope you all are staying safe. I come with great news. Despite the surge of covid 19 and instability, the final project has finally been completed. The well is 16 meters deep. Machine was built inside to pump out water. In two weeks the water storage tank will be put up and water connected from the well to it and from there supplied for use in the presbetery, the church primary school, some neighbours and for Agriculture. Official pictures, videos and thank you from the parish and community will be sent to you all shortly. Once again, Fr Collins Otia, the Christians of Christ the King Parish and Whole Mbengwi community are extremely grateful. You all are always in our prayers. God's abundant blessings.
