For weeks and sometimes months at a time, children and families in Christ the King Parish in Mbengwi, Cameroon, face the challenge of securing clean drinking water. The parish priest, Father Otia, is trying to do something about that. Right now, there is an immediate need for a water well. Appropriate well construction depends on local geologic and groundwater conditions. Proper well location and construction are key to the safety of the well water. Rainwater can pick up harmful bacteria and chemicals on the land’s surface and it is important to safeguard with additional measures in order to prevent waterborne diseases. The current global pandemic poses even more difficult challenges. Father Otia needs support in order to construct a standard well that will collect and distribute water to the people. A gift of $25 can help many families receive safe drinking water. Will you bring water – and life – to this community?
