Just $10 buys a bag of cement to start the construction of a small school near Guntur, India. The Bharath Abhyudaya Seva Samithi Center (BASS) provides basic education to children living in and near the garbage dump slum near Guntur. More than 50 children who have been out of school for years attend BASS’s small school. Currently, Mr. Anthony conducts his classes in a tiny hut, too tiny for the 50 children who come. Anthony, the director of BASS, provides not only primary education but also lunch for the children in his care. Fortunately, the local community has provided BASS with land to build a more permanent structure. Anthony is raising money to build two basic classrooms with cement walls and sheet metal roofs. He hopes these classrooms will serve children in the community for many years to come. Mr. Anthony “humbly requests your kind help,” and would like to honor the donors by displaying their names on the classrooms buildings when they are completed. So, let’s build a school!
