Grow a Parish Farm in the Philippines

Rodrigo Legara and the Saint Rosa Community is doing amazing things together. They have built a growing community and movement of collaborative consumption centered at their parish. No one goes hungry. Community members exchange resources according to their needs. Families barter amongst themselves. Communities do not have to rely on having money to feel a sense of status. The Saint Rosa community cultivates hard-work and team- work. Saint Rosa only began earlier this year with two committed families. The shared community farm and working group are now able to feed groups of 50 large families. Community members take turns to maintain the Community Center that offers a fresh water, an outdoor kitchen, the community garden, a poultry farm, and now a small piggery! Over the course of one year this small group’s efforts have transformed the community.
Inspired by Pope John Paul ll’s exhortation "to create a new cultural system with an economic model that serves the welfare of all, especially the poor" Saint Rosa’s shared community gardens allow families to plant together and harvest together. Families can then use these goods to barter for medical services, education, clothing, transportation and other needs from Saint Rosa’s network of professionals.
Rodrigo and the Saint Rosa Community is raising money to buy feed for their 120 chickens and 4 pigs as they begin to grow food to feed their expanding poultry and pig farm. Give $25 to support this amazing grassroots ministry.
