In 1984, at the request of a local Bishop in Gabon, the Holy Mary Dominican Mazzarello Community of Salesian Sisters established an outreach program to poor youth in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city of Owendo. Today, these Salesian Sisters provide education programs, teach religion in parishes and schools, direct the formation of catechists, organize prayer groups and run shelters and youth centers for vulnerable children. Sister Giulia is raising funds to help build a center for ministry that will accommodate large groups in a safe and joyful environment.
