Project Leader:
Reverend Celestino Bundi
Fr. Celestino Bundi is raising money to help serve the many refugees from South Sudan, Somali, and the Democratic Republic of Congo living in an informal settlement called Kawangware 15 kilometers from Nairobi. While these children and families have left the violence behind them, the suffering associated with famine and mass migration persists. Life in Kawangware is very hard. Families gather at the church to share what food is available and find lost family members. Fr. Bundi and the Missionary Childhood Association are providing food, medical care, education, and clothing to the children who arrive. He and his staff also work to help reunite children traveling alone with their relatives. Give $25 to help Fr. Bundi continue this life saving ministry.

St. Mary PSR students chose this project. Each Tues. night class chose a child to be on our Advent Mission Team. They met, decided to focus on either food or water needs, reviewed a number of the projects online, then unanimously voted on this project (after being told they could only choose one). They were moved by the fact that the children are refugees and have left violence, but are still facing starvation. Our students have a special heart for people who must leave their homeland hoping for a better life- 95% of them have immigrant parents, and a very high percentage of them are undocumented and living in fear. They will begin fundraising next week, collecting donations before classes and after weekend masses. The chose to give donors a rosary.
