A Well for Kanam Village, Kenya

Project Leader:

Desiree St.Paul

Father John Oyugi is a Priest of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope. He was recently ordained in New Orleans, Louisiana and was assigned to his native village of Kanam in the Rachuonyo District of Kenya. Project leader, Desiree St. Paul met Father John when he was staying with a local host family in New Orleans. When she learned about his village and the community’s lack of access to clean water, she decided to act. Desiree is hoping to help Father build a well for his village. Currently, people must walk two hours to get water. What they can gather, turns their teeth brown and causes illness including cholera.
