Ecumenical Work to Prevent HIV in South Africa

Project Leader:

Reverend Charles Rensburg

Saint Joseph's Theological Institute is developing an outreach program for thirteen private and public high schools to help educate young people about preventing HIV/AIDs infections. Saint Joseph’s is home to more than 200 students and 40 staff members. Saint Joseph’s students come from more than 20 African countries. The school trains ordained and non-ordained leaders primarily within the Catholic Church, but is also part of an ecumenical union of schools. Fr. Charles Rensburg is raising money to further develop the program’s curriculum and expand its reach. Give $25 to support this powerful example of Christian unity and public health education.

Dear Scott, Thank you for the support towards the project in helping young people make good life choices which will affect them for the rest of their lives. We are currently working on new modules for values-formation in primary education. It is a great project and enables us to influence children at an earlier stage of spiritual and human development. Thank you!

The project is currently developing new modules for training of children in primary schools in values formation. We have come to realise that the values of good and holy family life are the foundation of the Christian vocation. During the 1990's much of family life in Southern Africa was de-stabilized and therefore we see the importance of building values from the grass roots-- beginning with little children. The program seeks to develop primary school values training in building good family life, religious values and basic moral education. Thank you for making this project possible. "Let the children come to me, for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs..."
